1 Day Knife Making Workshops in Hunterville.

For this course my customers have a choice of two blade materials.

  1. 1. D-2 steel, High Carbon High Chromium tool steel. Hardened to Rockwell 59. Stain Resistant keeps an edge for a long time. Tough Durable.
Cost for the day $170

  1. 2. Damascus steel, 256 layered Forged steel,
Aesthetically beautiful each piece is unique. Has no resistance to Oxidisation (Rust). The blade needs to have a coating of oil to stop rusting. Cost for the day $240.

You have the complete freedom of choice of the blade they wish to make. I have a display on show for inspiration and design books to look through.
You have the choice of a large range of handle materials including, Deer antler, NZ hardwoods and man-made composites. We will also teach you how to make a leather pouch to suit their blade.
All safety equipment is supplied and we also supply Lunch, Tea and coffees.
Normal starting time is 0830 finishing around 5pm.

If you are arriving from the North ( Taupo, Taihape) On arriving into Hunterville at the BP Filling station Turn Right. This is Bruce street. Follow this street all the way up to the school (800m) the road takes a sweep to your right follow this, I am the 5th house along on your LEFT. White Bungalow with a red roof. Parking is at the rear of the house. The workshops are my converted garage and sleepout.

If you are arriving from the South (Bulls, Fielding) On arriving into the Hunterville, at the Challenge/Taylors store turn LEFT. This is Bruce street.
